Will Weisshaar began his career with South Platte Agency in August of 2017.
Graduated from Burlington High School in 1991. Attended the North West Kansas Technical School where he graduated with a Carpentry Degree and has worked in the construction industry for over 20 years. He is looking forward to learning and growing in the insurance industry.
Will is the husband of Andi and father to his step-son Michael and his son Turner. His wife Andi is the Business Office Manager for Julesburg School District. Will moved to Julesburg in May of 2006. If Will isn't at work, you can surely catch him outside working on all kinds of projects around the house.
Crystal (Herman) grew up on a ranch in Yuma county and graduated from Yuma High School and Colorado State University with a degree in Farm and Ranch Management. She has worked 35 years in agriculture with 25 years at Cargill and the last 10 as General Manager for Vitalix, Inc. Crystal has deep roots in agriculture in Northeastern Colorado. She and her sisters own their family farm and ranch located near Laird, Colorado. They received the Century Farm designation for continuous family ownership of the farm and ranch homesteaded by their great great grandparents 127 years ago.
In her free time Crystal enjoys gardening, horseback riding and raising chickens to provide eggs to her friends and family. She is the mother of four grown children and grandmother to two wonderful grandkids.
Joel Nelson, CFP®and his wife Crystal are the owners of South Platte Agency, Inc. The Nelson's provide leadership for the team. Joel has been serving Sedgwick County and NE Colorado for over 20 years as an Investment Advisor and Financial Planner. Crystal (Herman) grew up on a Ranch in Yuma county and has 35 years in agriculture. Joel is the only CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™within 100 miles of Sterling Colorado. We invest our time and money in South Platte Agency because we believe farm families and professionals in rural America deserve some of the most competitive independent financial services available anywhere in America.
Michelle started her career as a licensed insurance agent in 2025 out of our Wray, CO office.
Michelle is from Haigler, NE and currently lives in Laird, CO with her husband Nate. In her spare time Michelle enjoys gardening, flowers and spending time with friends and family.
